A Quote on Leadership

Just thought I'd throw these two out there:

"Leadership is a harder job to do than just choose sides. It must bring sides together."

-Jesse Jackson

"The only real training for leadership is leadership."

January meeting stuff

Okay guys, we just finished the January meeting. Here are my notes from the meeting. As I did not get there as soon as some people, I don't have all of the notes. Someone please post anything that I'm missing.

MOL session

The purpose of sessions - to reach a common goal.
How do you get the most of candidates? - teach to each learning style

MOL format:
Planning (Objectives)

Guided Discovery (teacher = guide to discovery)
  • game
  • find what prerequisites the candidates know
  • often active
  • create a sense of need for the skill
  • more later in my notes

Teach/learn

  • formats = Q/A, lecture, use of examples (relevance)
  • teach to all three styles of learner - kinsthetic, auditory, visual

Application

  • active, evaluates what taught
  • what stuck?
  • re-apply sense of need for the skill

Evaluation

  • what worked and didn't with this group
